Based on our own preparatory work we intend to improve the morphologic and sonographic foundations of a sonographic diagnosis of lymphoedema as well as lipoedema. This concerns the detailed regional architecture of the cutis and subcutis, but also the collection of sonographic standard values allowing for a comparison and therewith an improved evaluation of pathological states.
A detailed morphological examination of the superficial, perforating and deep veins of the lower extremities in respect to their topographic situation, their valvular systems and their connections is intended to improve the evaluation of the theoretical concepts of the diseases of this venous system and should open new aspects for their therapy.
